All of our garments are handmade. We use old pattern cutting methods too so nothing is done by huge machinery. Our team are highly skilled and always in demand as there is a shortage of skilled workers in the region. They are paid a lot more than the living wage for India as we value the skills and knowledge they have. They work nine hour shifts which include 45 minute lunch break and two tea breaks of fifteen minutes each. Tea is included and provided for the team. We also provide savory and sweet snacks for the staff on various festivals. Once a year we have a lunch party (Pooja) where staff and their families all come along to. Staff are allowed to take garments for their own use paying only the cost of the yarn utilised in the garment.
.
We also provide our workers with accommodation within two kilometres of the factory as a lot of themlive in the remote villages, this stops any travel expense on a daily basis. They work seasonally so have plenty of time back with their families. Our team works for ten months of the year and have two months off where they go back to their native village to attend weddings, help with farming, seeing friends and family and then they come back knowing their jobs are secure and waiting for them. The holidays are unpaid as they come and go as they chose. We pay extra if people choose to work on holidays and for any overtime they do, we also provide extra snacks and drinks if they want to do this.
.
We only make our clothing in short runs and do not mass produce, this is why sometimes items do become out of stock, or we cannot do every size in every design or expand quickly to bigger size ratios. We want o do this but will retire older lines in order to make it happen, as we never want to over stretch ourselves or grow beyond our means as we know how many people rely on us.
.
Run & Fly has been going since 1986 and is owned and operated by the same family that ran it then although it has been passed down to the founders son now.
.
We want to be open and honest with our customers. We are always trying to do better and we know we aren't perfect as no one producing fashion can be as there will always be some impact on the environment but we want to do the best we can and give back what we can.
.
If you have any further questions please pop us an email to hello@runandfly.co.uk and we will do our best to answer it.
We also make sure that all of our workers are paid the living wage.

Our factory is in Bhiwandi, which is 20km from Mumbai. The city of Bhiwandi, known for its textile industry, has the largest number of power looms and handlooms in the country and is dubbed "the Manchester of India". A major portion of the population is employed by the power loom sector.
